The Absaroka and Beartooth mountain ranges are located in south central Montana and the northern most portion of Wyoming. There are three National Forests that lay within the Absaroka-Beartooth range, which consist of approximately 940,000 acres and the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness.
The state of Montana is famous for its big game hunting and draws sportsmen from across the World to this pristine hunterโs paradise. This particular region of Montana possesses some of the best elk habitat in existence with current populations offering outstanding hunting opportunity.
This elk hunt begins with a warm Montana reception at the Bozeman International Airport by your host. After a good night’s rest in Bozeman you will be personally escorted by your host to the trail head where the staff has the pack spring and gentle saddle horses ready for the scenic ride to elk camp located just 8 miles from the Yellowstone National Park boundary. Camp offers wall tents with carpeted floors, wood stoves, foam-padded cots, gaslights and a separate dining tent with a full-time chef that will keep you well-fed.
This is an 8-day elk hunt with 6 full days of elk hunting. The trip does require one day en route to camp and one day out at the end of your hunt. Elk hunts are conducted by horseback and foot and you may to choose to hunt as hard as you choose. Elk are plentiful and shooting opportunity is great.
This is elk hunting country at itโs best with hunts beginning In September during the bugle season and running through early-October.
