In 1867, a survey crew led by General Grenville M. Dodge platted the site at which the fledgling Union Pacific Railroad would cross Crow Creek. At that exact point sprung up the bustling town long been known as the “Magic City Of The Plains” ~ Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Cheyenne was originally in the Dakota Territory and later Wyoming Territory. Cheyenne was the center of western activity.
One fine September afternoon in 1897 a bunch of local cowboys decided to get together and have a contest. This group of local ranch hands wanted to see who was the best at roping and bronc riding. Thus began a tradition that has evolved into what has long been know as Cheyenne Frontier Days, the largest and best outdoor rodeo in the World.
Each year during the last full week of July, 2,500 volunteers of the Cheyenne community host this huge western celebration.
Frontier Days features nine afternoon PRCA rodeos, live nightly entertainment featuring star entertainers of the country music industry, Professional Bull Riders, the largest horse-drawn parades in the World, free entertainment throughout the park, carnivals and other attractions on the Frontier Days grounds and the City of Cheyenne too numerous to mention.
This is pure family fun at it’s best.
